We are excited to announce that starting September 1, the Windermere District Social Service Society (WDSSS) will formally join NEXUS Community Support Society.
This amalgamation brings together two organizations with closely aligned missions and services.
Also known as WeCONNECT, the WDSSS has been a longstanding organization in the Columbia Valley dedicated to providing high-quality support to individuals with diverse abilities since 1958.
“We are thrilled for this opportunity to amalgamate with NEXUS” says Corinne Tansowny – Board President of WDSSS. “Joining forces allows us to grow and expand services in the Columbia Valley for those with diverse abilities.”
According to NEXUS Board President, Joanne Thom, “NEXUS is an organization that has been open to and has embraced change in our sector. I look forward to the benefits and opportunities this merger brings, not only expanding the service area but ensuring and safeguarding essential services stay within the Columbia Valley.”
This amalgamation deepens our shared mission of supporting and empowering individuals and families to live full lives.
Further, it also strengthens NEXUS’ dedication to supporting sustainable services throughout Southeastern BC. Through the amalgamation of Societies, we can ensure the stability of service delivery throughout the region for years to come.
“We are deeply committed to the individuals, families and staff who make up WeConnect,” says Brandon Arnett, Chief Executive Officer of NEXUS Community Support Society. “We look forward to embracing this next chapter where we will work together to bring new and lasting services to the Columbia Valley and beyond.”
