Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Technology Planning and Vision:
  • Collaborate with the reporting manager to develop and implement a vision for technology-related resources within the organization.
  • Ongoing review and update of the System and Technology Plan to align with organizational goals and needs.
  1. System Setup and Maintenance:
  • Install and configure hardware and software for individual computers and agency-wide systems and networks.
  • Administer network accounts and passwords as required.
  • Maintain a log of required technology repairs and maintenance.
  1. IT Risk Management and Best Practices:
  • Implement and maintain an IT Risks and Best Practices Plan to ensure the security and efficiency of technology systems.
  • Monitor security measures and troubleshoot any technology issues that arise.
  1. Vendor Liaison and Contract Management:
  • Act as a liaison with contracted offsite IT services as necessary.
  • Review, monitor, and manage contracts with technology vendors, including internet providers, cell phone carriers, and printer providers.
  1. Training and Policy Development:
  • Provide training to managers on the use of computers, software, and the Internet.
  • Create and update necessary policies concerning computer systems and information technology.
  1. Research and Recommendations:
  • Research current and potential technology resources and services.
  • Make recommendations for the purchase of technology resources and equipment as authorized.
  1. Backup Systems and Data Management:
  • Ensure backup systems are in place and effectual to safeguard critical data and information.
  1. Online Sites:
  • Develop, implement, and monitor the ShareVision website and Open Future Learning platform.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is an asset.  Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Proven experience in IT support and system administration, preferably in a non-profit or social services environment.
  • Strong understanding of network administration, hardware installation, and software configuration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to train others and collaborate effectively with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to IT management.
  • Familiarity with IT security best practices and risk management principles.

 

Other Information

  • This position may require occasional evening or weekend work to address technology issues or perform system maintenance.
  • The IT technician must adhere to strict confidentiality policies regarding sensitive organizational and client information.
